Tryout Information

VLL tryouts are for registered players with league ages 8-12.

If you player is 11 or 12, and was on a Majors team last Spring 2018, they do not need to attend tryouts, as they will be returning to the same team this Spring, with their completed and paid registration.

All other players ages 8-12 attending a tryout must have a paid Spring 2019 registration completed on the VLL website and must choose one of the two tryout dates (not both), or they will not be eligible for playing baseball this Spring.

The tryout day & time options are listed by age (not by baseball division / level).  Given the number of players that need to attend tryouts, please attend at your designated day/time, and do not show up early or late.

Try outs will be at Perfect Performance in Tyson's Corner.

Spring team assignments will be announced after the tryout, draft selection and team assignment process is completed.  This process ensures that players are evaluated for safely playing at the right level, and all teams are fairly balanced to maintain appropriate competition.  The resulting team rosters will be announced approximately as follows:

Majors:  Thursday February 21 for ages 10-12

AAA:  Tuesday February 26 for ages 9-12

AA:  Saturday March 2 for ages 8-11

A: Mid-March for ages 7-9

Please note:

-Coaches cannot enter until Tryouts start

-Only water allowed

-Be dressed for baseball with a glover, helmet, and athletic shoes

-Players wear sneakers only, no spikes

-Please do not bring a bag, bat, or cleats- they will not be allowed in

-Waiver must be signed by a parent

I-66 Expansion

Current VDOT plans for the I-66 project do not affect Vienna’s athletic fields at Yeonas and Southside parks.

Positive Coaching Alliance Center
by posted 02/28/2017

VLL's partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance is  in year 5 and this partnership is important to understand and support for the sake of the kids of VLL.

On the VLL website, there is a PCA resource center which can be accessed by clicking on the "Coaches Corner" tab on the home page.   This resource center provides valuable information on how PCA works and how your support of PCA directly impacts your player, your team, and the sport.

Thank you for your support and go VLL!

Brian Smith

VLL-PCA Coordinator
