Our coaches are are vital to the excellence of our league. By the many nominations we received for this year's Coach of the Year Award, there is no doubt that VLL has some of the very best. Here are just a few samples from those nominations:

"He’s taught them so much about the game, but also about dealing with some of the ups and downs of life. Along with improved baseball skills, they all know the value and proper way to deliver a good handshake...The amount of progress each player has made this year is a testament to [his] dedication, coaching style, and leadership. If you ask about playing for him again next year, in a heartbeat we would say yes!"

"He takes great pride in shaping these kids. We will be forever grateful to him."

"If the idea of Vienna Little League is to instill the love of the game, foster the sense of belonging to the Vienna community, or promote hard work as the main path to accomplishments, there is no other place than the top for coach...My 12-year old son is leaving the league with the sweetest memories to be long cherished."

"Above all, he makes practice and games fun, and the kids love coming to baseball week after week. His commitment to our team exceeds all expectations, and he is truly an asset to the children and adult volunteers in VLL."

"[He] has a unique sense of humor that makes the team laugh and the parents laugh even more. He is eager to teach and mentor and always looking for a way to add more baseball into the scheudle. [He] allows the team to thrive with pride and has taught them to overcome challenges with grace and respect for the team. [He] is giving of his time, encouraging, enthusastic, and has created a strong bond between all the famlies on the team."

Introducing Summer Slugger: Using baseball to stop “Summer Slide”
During the summer months, students who don’t practice and test their knowledge can lose critical math and literacy skills. This “summer slide” causes teachers and students to spend valuable time in the fall re-teaching and re-learning the lost material. This summer, the Nationals have partnered with digital learning innovation leader EverFi to offer a remedy with the launch of Summer Slugger.
Participants can benefit from up to 30 hours of fun baseball-themed content that reinforces math and literacy skills. Computer-based, the interactive, gamified program is geared towards students ages 8-11. Summer Slugger is free, and open to individuals, schools and community organizations – students just need to have an adult register them.
Join the Nationals in using baseball to stop the “summer slide” this season—earn points, unlock new levels and receive progress-based rewards throughout the summer.
Signing up is easy:

Positive Coaching Alliance Center
by posted 02/28/2017

VLL's partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance is in year 4 and this partnership is important to understand and support for the sake of the kids of VLL.

On the VLL website, there is a PCA resource center which can be accessed by clicking on the "Coaches Corner" tab on the home page.   This resource center provides valuable information on how PCA works and how your support of PCA directly impacts your player, your team, and the sport.

Thank you for your support and go VLL!
