VLL Tryouts for 2018
Tryouts are 19 and 25 February. If your player plans to play for a Majors, AAA, or AA team, a tryout is mandatory. Please only attend ONE tryout. If your player is 8 yrs old and is not planning on playing Majors, AAA, or AA, he or she does not need to attend a tryout. Please carefully read the following tips to ensure you and your player have the best tryout experience possible.
Know when to be there. Because of the tight facility and the large number of players who need to tryout, your player can only tryout during the designated times. Do not show up early. We cannot honor “first come, first served.” Please check your player’s correct time for tryouts:
Monday, February 19th is for
4:15-5:50pm – 10 Year Olds Only
6:00-6:50pm – 11 Year Olds Only
7:00-7:50pm – 12 Year Olds Only
8:00-8:45pm – Makeup for 8-12 Year Olds (only if they cannot attend on the 25th)
Sunday, February 25th is for
12:00-12:50pm – 8 Year Olds Only
1:00-2:30 – 9 Year Olds Only
2:30-3:15pm – 12 Year Olds Only
3:30-4:45pm – Makeup for 8-12 Year Olds
Know your role as a parent. For safety reasons, the building owners have requested that parents do NOT enter the building. Please bring your player to the door, where volunteers will take your cell phone number so we can call/text you when your player is finished. We will lead all players through check in and the tryout. When they are finished—which will be approximately 40 minutes later, depending on how many players show up at any given time—we will have a volunteer wait with them at the door until you arrive. No player will be allowed back into the parking lot without a parent. We apologize for any inconvenience, but safety is paramount.
Know where you are going. The address of Tysons Playground is 8502-B Tyco Road. It is located in the back of the Tesla dealership building. When facing the front of the dealership, go around the right side of the building.
Do not get towed. Parking is not allowed in front of the retail establishments that are open. Please use the large lot behind the buildings if necessary.
Make sure your player is equipped. Players should dress for baseball and bring their glove. If you prefer, your player may bring his or her own helmet, though we will have helmets available. Players should not bring bats, bat bags, or cleats.
Thank you in advance for your attention to these important details. We have more than 25 volunteers giving their time to staff the tryouts, and our goal is to conduct them as efficiently, effectively, and safely as possible.
