2015 Vienna Little League Challenger Program
for Children with Special Needs
* Participate for free: Since 1989, the Vienna Little League (VLL) has offered the Challenger Program for children with special needs to play baseball in a supportive, nurturing, and fun environment at no cost to the family. Children may begin participating the program at age 5.
* Sunday afternoon games: Vienna’s two Challenger teams, the Padres and the Angels, composed of players of varying abilities play each other and visiting teams on Sundays during the season. VLL majors teams, travel teams, and high schoolers assist in running the games
* No experience necessary: Players will participate in skill development as well as play in a 3-inning game where every player will have the chance to bat, run the bases, and score. The games are very fun and everyone has a great time. Basic adaptations are implemented where need be. Parents can watch from the stands or participate on the field.
* Opening day: The first game of the 2014 season immediately follows the VLL opening day ceremonies at Yeonas Park on April 5th. All subsequent games will be played on Sundays at 1:30 PM. Other special events, such as the annual game at Flint Hill School and a night game under the lights are planned.
